PEASE FOUNDATION For advancement of Store Brand Marketing

The Pease Foundation established in 1999 is a subsidiary of Marketing Management Inc, a leading store brand marketing company for over 33 years. The foundation,s mission is to initiate and support practical research for the advancement of Store Brands, to educate the supermarket industry on the latest trends in consumer attitudes and behavior, and to foster a healthy cooperation between the manufacturing and retailing community.

The foundation will fund research projects from leading business schools that will add to the understanding of marketing store brands. All project proposals should clearly document the research issue(s) being addressed and how the findings could have practical implications on marketing store brands as it relates to the supermarket industry.

The Pease foundation currently invites proposals on the theme:

The Impact of Store Brands in the next Millennium

Research grants will run from August 1, 1999 through April 2000. Application deadline is July 1, 1999 with decisions announced by August 1999. Expected grant sizes range from $2,000 to $5,000 for a maximum funding of $10,000. Possible topics might include (but are not limited to):

Strategies for promoting store brands
Strategies for increasing store brand market share
Index for measuring store brand confidence
Pricing philosophies
Future of category development process
Essentials of a successful store brand program
Measuring Store Brand Equity

Goals for Pease Foundation:

Relevance to the supermarket industry
Direct relevance to practical managerial decision making
Deliverables beyond technical reports and journal publications (such deliverables might be data sets, web sites, teaching cases, books, videos, conferences, etc.)

A detailed proposal including curriculum vitae, abstract, introduction, literature review, hypothesis, methodology, and anticipated conclusions along with timeline for completion and budgets (not to exceed 20 pages) should be mailed to:

All proposals should be received no later than July 1, 1999. Proposals will be reviewed for relevance and quality by Marketing Management Inc in conjunction with a committee consisting of eminent scholars in marketing

Proposals must meet at least one of the goals. The more the goals met, the more likely favorable consideration will be given to the proposal. In all cases, the research proposal should concentrate on managerial implications.
