In 2006, over 2,000 students from 45 colleges and universities tackled the xACT challenge. This initiative was designed by PwC's Risk & Quality practice to give students a taste of real world accounting issues. The case required students to think critically and work as a team to develop the most effective solution. Are you ready to accept the challenge?

Participation in either xTAX or xACT gives students a unique insight into the dilemmas surrounding accounting and tax policy making decisions. Through these competitions, a team of 5 students work together to build a case based on a particular business issue and present it to a group of PwC professionals within a 2 week period of time.

The composition requirements of the teams are as follows:

2 sophomores - must be enrolled in the first accounting course or be an accounting major/minor

1 junior - must be enrolled in the first accounting level or be an accounting major/minor

2 "other" team members may be at any level: freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or fifth year students. In addition, one of these "other" team members may be a general business or business-related major, such as Finance or Information Systems. The other must be enrolled in the first accounting course or be an accounting major/minor at the undergraduate or graduate level. If you have any questions regarding other acceptable business majors, please contact your local Lead Recruiter or your national contacts.

The awards for the participants and winners are as follows:

1st Place: $1,000 to be divided among team members and entrance into the national finals with the national winner bringing home $10,000 and a trip to New York

2nd Place: A Digital Photo Frame

All xACT participants will receive a $25 giftcard to Amazon.com
